Troop 829
BSA Boy Scout Troop 829 is a boy lead, active troop that meets every Thursday night at 7pm. The troop enjoys camping, hiking, backpacking, shooting sports, and other various outdoor activities. We also participate in several community service activities/events each year. We try to have at least one activity planned each month. Monthly activities are selected as a troop and everyone has a chance to offer suggestions.
Some of our past activities include:
Hiking in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forest
Camping at the Elizabeth Furnace Recreation Area and many other locations
Land Navigation exercises
Black powder, modern rifle and shotgun shooting
Week long summer camp at Camp Rock Enon
Historical tour and hiking at Harper's Ferry, WV
Trip to the National Aquarium in Baltimore
The Great Madison Campout - JMU Football Game and camping on the field
Weekly meetings focus on planning for upcoming activities as well as working towards rank advancement, so every scout has a chance to achieve his goals. Our troop follows the patrol method, and patrols work together toward goals.
Please visit if you are looking for an active, boy led troop in the area of Front Royal, Virginia. New members are always welcome.
